Bachelors Agree: Marriage Is Irrelevant

Share

As a lifelong bachelor in my 50s, I was very interested in the article on never-married men over 40. Marriage is indeed irrelevant for me.

I’m in a large social dance group where I have two exceptionally charming and pretty partners (20 years younger) for swing dance classes, and dozens of other women who are happy to dance with me.

At my part-time job, I’m surrounded by a couple of dozen more intelligent and delightful women for good teamwork and conversation.

I’m a docent at the zoo where I take around mostly cheerful groups of 5- to 7-year-olds, and the best part is that I don’t have to put up with the annoying aspects of them the rest of the week.

Who the heck needs a wife complaining about PMS, hot flashes or that I don’t talk to her enough? I also don’t have to get in arguments about the relatives, money or sex.

The peace and quiet are wonderful. Oh, and I can watch all the college and pro football and basketball games I want without having someone to nag me.

Am I happy--no--I’m ecstatic.
