Stop the Music: London’s Covent Garden closed its doors temporarily Monday over a pay row with its orchestra. “The Royal Opera House announces with great regret that from Tuesday, Oct. 22, all performances by the Royal Opera and the Royal Ballet at Covent Garden have been canceled until further notice,” a statement said. To make their point about needing a raise, the 120 musicians refused to turn up in their usual evening dress last week and played in jeans and T-shirts.
