Mazda Recall: Mazda Motors of America in Irvine said it is mailing voluntary recall notices to owners of all 1989 model Mazda MPVs sold in the United States because of a potential lockup problem with the rear brakes.

The campaign covers 33,540 vehicles. Mazda is asking owners of the 1989 MPV vans manufactured between July, 1988, and June, 1989, to bring them to a Mazda dealer for inspection and possible replacement of the rear brake shoes. Any necessary work will be done at no cost to owners.
