Funds Approved to Buy Land for Well
The City Council this week unanimously approved spending $56,350 to buy land for a new well.
The property, 40 feet by 50 feet, is at 17575 Vandenberg Lane. City officials had considered using eminent domain proceedings to purchase the property but were able to work out an agreement with property owner Manchester Development Corp.
As part of the agreement, city officials will modify parking requirements for a commercial and office complex next to the property from 273 required spaces to not more than 264 spaces.
City officials said they expect the well construction to begin late this year or early next year.
