Monica Seles, fined for skipping Wimbledon and banned from the Barcelona Olympic Games because she did not play in the Federation Cup, will be fined $20,000 for playing in an exhibition this week in Spain rather than the Women’s Tennis Assn. tournament in Brighton, England.

Wimbledon champion Steffi Graf, second to Seles in the world rankings, believes $20,000 is not enough.

“There should definitely be another zero on the end, at least,” said Graf, who added that promoters of exhibitions often pay the players’ fines. “I think if it were $100,000 every promoter would think about it.”
