2 Men on Stolen Motorcycle Held After Leading Officers on Chase

Two men on a motorcycle were arrested Thursday after they led officers on a chase that ended when an unmarked police car struck the motorcycle, police said.

The men attempted to run away but were caught, said police, who later discovered that the motorcycle had been stolen.

The chase started at 11:10 a.m., when an officer pulled over a motorcycle with two men on it in the 1100 block of North Harbor Boulevard for a traffic violation. As the officer approached the men, the motorcycle sped off, Police Lt. Ted Labahn said.

The officer pursued them onto the eastbound Riverside Freeway but lost the motorcycle, which was traveling at more than 100 m.p.h., police said. A short time later, other officers took up the chase when they saw the motorcycle heading south on East Street near La Palma Avenue, Labahn said.

As the motorcycle slowed to turn onto Harbor Boulevard, an undercover officer driving an unmarked car struck the back of the motorcycle, causing it to fall. The driver and passenger attempted to run.

The driver of the motorcycle, William Dwayne Martin, 228, was arrested after a brief struggle with police. The passenger, Adam Troy Goodyear, 29, of Anaheim, was found hiding under a parked car several blocks away, Labahn said.
