Fall Classic Is Worth Series of Complaints

Share

I started to read Twins Manager Tom Kelly’s comments about not being allowed to use the designated hitter in World Series games played in Atlanta. He said it’s the only shadow over “the dream we all think about when we’re kids growing up.” Since the dreaded DH didn’t exist before 1973, that means either Kelly was a child prophet or he is about 25 years old.

Sorry, Tom, but they still play real baseball in the National League. They still have nine players on a team and managers still make decisions. They don’t spend time hoping “our pitchers don’t get hurt.” And if you think all that’s strange, listen to this: In Atlanta, they still play outdoors on real grass.
