Nation IN BRIEF : FLORIDA : $94-Million Lottery Pot Lures Players
In a deadline surge, thousands of people across the state snapped up Lotto tickets, hoping to win the late-night drawing for $94 million. Some stood in line for hours. Out-of-state bettors flocked in by air and highway. A fortune awaits any person or persons who selected these numbers drawn Saturday night: 7, 16, 17, 23, 27 and 30. Ticket sales hit a record 33,420 a minute at noon, taking the week’s tally for the $1 tickets above 72 million, said state lottery spokesman Ed George. With that many tickets in circulation, the odds are five winners will split the pot.
