Bills’ Levy Reportedly Fined for Obscenity
Marv Levy, coach of the Buffalo Bills, has been fined by the NFL for his actions during Buffalo’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, a newspaper reported Sunday.
NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue fined Levy “heavily” for shouting and gesturing obscenities at officials during ABC’s “Monday Night Football” telecast Oct. 7, sources told the Buffalo News.
Levy’s outburst followed a series of controversial calls by the officials at Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium. The Bills lost the game, 33-6, their only defeat of the season.
The newspaper reported that sources estimate the fine to be about $5,000.
The NFL has a policy against public obscenity from players and coaches.
Levy publicly apologized for his actions soon after, saying he was “not very proud of what he was seen doing.” He could not be reached for comment Saturday.
