Nature of Business: Supplier of automotive parts, accessories, petrochemicals and sealants. Employees Total: 1,950 In Orange County: 15 Stock Listed in the Times: on NYSE as “Wynns” Ticker Symbol: “WN” Friday’s Close: $16.50 One-Week Change: Down $0.38 Analyst Review: “They’re a nice, old-line Orange County-based company that has been doing relatively well. But over the past five years, their growth has leveled out at just under $300 million in sales. They have been impacted by the economic downturn, but when the recession ends they should be able to crack through that $300 million level. They’ve invested over $15 million in precision sealing products and in new product development having to do with recovering and recycling chlorofluorocarbons and antifreeze; that should get them back on track over the next two to five years with a 10% to 15% growth per year. They may not be as romantic as other stocks, but on the other hand, they consistently pay a dividend, and the stock is trading significantly below book value. --Jeffrey L. Kilpatrick, president Newport Securities, Costa Mesa

Corporate Outlook: “1991 has been a very difficult year, but we have managed to remain profitable in a tough business environment. Our previous efforts to cut costs and invest in new technology, particularly in environmentally-sensitive products, are beginning to pay off. We believe we will rebound in 1992 as the automotive industry and general economy recover. --Gregg M. Gibbons, vice president corporate affairs
