IRVINE : Police Jail Suspect in Attempted Rape
Police said they arrested a 26-year-old Los Alamitos man on suspicion of attempted rape Monday.
The suspect, John Gilbert Lanham, allegedly tried to rape a 20-year-old UC Irvine student as she was jogging alone along a section of San Diego Creek on Sunday night, Sgt. Scott Cade said.
The victim fought off the attacker and did not require hospitalization, police said. Lanham was held in Irvine City Jail on $50,000 bail, Cade said.
