Former Boston Red Sox Manager Joe Morgan turned down an offer to serve as a special assistant to General Manager Lou Gorman.
Morgan, 60, was fired Oct. 8, two days after the Red Sox finished the season tied with the Detroit Tigers for second in the American League East. He told club officials he has decided to seek a major league coaching or managing position elsewhere.
