Alhambra : City Allocates $2.5 Million
After using most of the $10 million in proceeds from the sale of Alhambra Community Hospital to pay off the facility’s debts, the City Council decided to distribute the remaining $2.5 million to the city’s emergency reserve, as well as to a new fund to pay employees for unused sick leave and vacation time and to the general fund.
The council on Monday allocated $800,000 for its emergency fund, $750,000 for vacation and sick time and $942,826 for the city’s general fund.
City Manager Kevin Murphy said that, in addition to the initial $750,000, the city will need to set aside $250,000 during the next two fiscal years to ensure that sick leave and vacation time are fully funded.
