The City Council voted unanimously Monday to adopt a graffiti-abatement ordinance requiring property owners to remove graffiti if the person responsible is not caught.
Under the ordinance, violators who are caught will be liable for removal of the graffiti within 24 hours. When no one is apprehended, the property owner will have three days after notification by the city to remove the markings.
In addition, anyone caught writing graffiti will be accountable for any costs to the city for the abatement, said City Manager Gabrielle Pryor.
