The former boyfriend of a slain nursery school teacher was ordered to stand trial on a murder charge.
Alonzo Cepeda Randall, 32, of San Diego, is accused of stabbing Geraldine Cruz, 50, to death Sept. 1. Her body was found in the kitchen of her South Elisabeth Street home.
At the preliminary hearing, Elisabeth Pearson testified that Randall and Cruz broke up in August, and Cruz had sought a temporary restraining order preventing Randall from contacting her.
San Diego Municipal Court Judge Howard Shore will set Randall’s trial date Nov. 12.
Defense attorney Bill Youmans said the couple had had a long relationship. Randall is in County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bail.
