Irma H. Lambert, who worked at the Burbank Central Public Library for 30 years, has died at her Burbank home. She was 77.

Mrs. Lambert died Saturday of emphysema, said her husband, Paul H. Lambert.

Born in Catlettsburg, Ky., she earned a bachelor’s degree and a teaching credential from Marshall University in Huntington, W.Va. She taught elementary school in her hometown and worked as a substitute teacher in Louisville, Ky., and in Burbank after she moved to California in 1949. Mrs. Lambert began working as a clerk at the Burbank Central Public Library in 1951, working with audio/visual materials and on the reference desk. In the early 1960s, she was made a librarian and was in charge of cataloguing all new books. She retired in 1981.

She was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Burbank.

In addition to her husband of 53 years, Mrs. Lambert is survived by a son, Michael Lambert of Santa Cruz; daughter, Gretchen Johnsonbaugh of Lafayette, Calif., and two grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at noon today, with a funeral to follow at 2 p.m., both at Eckerman-Heisman Funeral Service chapel, 333 E. Magnolia Blvd., Burbank, which is handling the arrangements. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial-Park in the Hollywood Hills.

Donations can be made in Mrs. Lambert’s name to the American Lung Assn.
