UCSD Selected as Host of Regional Soccer Event

UC San Diego’s soccer stadium is the site for the men’s and women’s West regional soccer games this weekend, the NCAA has announced.

Saturday’s Division III West Regional women’s games feature third-ranked UC San Diego playing St. Mary’s (Minn.) at 1:30 p.m., preceded by seventh-ranked Kalamazoo College (Mich.) against 20th-ranked Cal Lutheran at 11 a.m. The West Regional final is at 11:30 a.m. Sunday.

In the men’s Far West Regional first round, 10th-ranked UCSD plays unranked Cal Lutheran, Sunday at 2 p.m.

General admission tickets ($4), student tickets ($2) and tickets for children 12 and younger ($1) will be sold at the gate each day.

BASEBALL

The Padres have hired Don Johnson to become their marketing director. Johnson previously was vice president of sales and marketing for the Denver Nuggets of the NBA.

The arrival of Johnson will allow Tom Ryba to focus his efforts as director of promotions, the Padres said.
