COUNTYWIDE : Patience Pays Off: 13 Hit Little Lotto

Share

A group of 13 co-workers in Orange County found that not only is patience a virtue, it’s profitable too.

After 18 months of faithfully purchasing tickets, Jean Myers of Placentia and 12 of her co-workers came up with a winning combination in Little Lotto over the weekend that earned them the game’s top prize of $500,000.

Myers, who declined to reveal where she works, said the 10 women and three men in her group will split the winnings evenly. They will use the money to invest, pay bills and take care of some baby expenses, she said.

As for Myers, whose name was on the lucky ticket: “I’m not sure how I’ll spend it.”

Myers said she has played Little Lotto for a year and a half. The odds of picking all six numbers is 1 in more than 3 million. There have been 47 winners of the top Little Lotto prize since the state began the game six months ago, according to state lottery officials.

Myers said she bought the winning ticket at Thrifty Drug and Discount on North Harbor Boulevard in Fullerton.
