Three San Diegans were arrested Thursday in connection with an extensive bookmaking operation run from markets and residences, police said.

Andy Souvannarath, 46; his wife, Ronni Souvannarath, 31, and Khao Mounmanivong, 20, were arrested after an eight-month investigation into their alleged gambling operation that accepted bets on the outcomes of lotteries in California and Thailand, police said.

Undercover police placed numerous bets at several locations, and last summer served five search warrants at businesses and homes believed to be involved in the operations, police said.

The Souvannaraths own a grocery and video store in the 4700 block of Market Street from which they were allegedly involved in the bookmaking scheme, authorities said. Mounmanivong was a clerk at the video store, police said.

Arrangements were being made for the voluntary surrender of five other adults and a juvenile today, police said.
