A Covina man was shot in the left shoulder Wednesday while driving on the 210 Freeway in Arcadia, police said Thursday.

The 43-year-old victim was treated at Arcadia Methodist Hospital and released, said Sgt. Ken Kuwahara. The man’s name was withheld for his protection, Kuwahara said.

The victim told police he was driving east on the interstate near Baldwin Avenue shortly after 9 p.m. when he heard a loud bang and, thinking it was a flat tire, pulled his van off the freeway. Then he felt pain in his shoulder, realized he had been shot and notified police.

A bullet entered the rear of the van, grazed the man’s shoulder, hit the front of the van and landed on the floor on the passenger’s side, Kuwahara said. A witness later told police that he had seen several shots being fired from an eastbound, late-model white Ford Mustang GT with two male occupants.
