A suspected drunk driver plowed her car through the front window of a Van Nuys convenience store Saturday, slightly injuring four youngsters who were shopping, police said.

Mirna Alvanes, 31, of Panorama City was arrested on felony drunk driving charges after witnesses said she drove her tan Cadillac through the front window of the 7-Eleven store at 16100 Sherman Way, said Officer David Hopkins of the Valley Traffic bureau of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Alvanes was being held Saturday at Van Nuys jail in lieu of $10,000 bail, Hopkins said.

The four children, ages 10 to 14, were treated at Valley Presbyterian Hospital for minor cuts and bruises and released, Hopkins said.

Alvanes told police that she was attempting to evade a car thief when she rammed the car through the plate glass window, then drove backward and plowed into a concrete pole, Hopkins said.

He said police are seeking the alleged car thief, who was described as a Latino in his 20s, with a brown mustache and long, curly hair.
