State agents struck swiftly to break up a $1-a-ticket raffle at a bowling alley.

Agents of the state Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco, accompanied by three Broward County sheriff’s deputies, moved in last week and grabbed the $82 pot after the winning ticket was picked at Cypress Creek Bowl.

“People run a little jackpot like this to raise money for a banquet at the end of the season. It’s not exactly a major deal,” general manager Mike Kuhle said.

Mike Hawkins, who heads the state agency, said: “Our policy requires that we take enforcement action and the policy calls for seizure of any proceeds.”

No arrests were made. With no previous violations, the alley’s liquor license is not in jeopardy, but a fine of up to $1,000 could be imposed, officials said.
