OXNARD : City May Haul More to Recycling Center

Share

The Oxnard City Council on Tuesday will consider a contract with the Gold Coast Recycling Center in Ventura to increase its deliveries to that facility to 60 tons a day.

The 20-month agreement received Oxnard’s preliminary approval in September and has already been approved by the city of Ventura, Gold Coast’s partner.

Oxnard currently takes two to five tons of recyclables to Gold Coast every day.

Under the agreement, Oxnard would not have to guarantee its deliveries to Gold Coast. Its loads would have to contain no more than 30% non-recyclable material.

The contract requires that Oxnard pay a sorting fee to Gold Coast of $85 per ton. However, the city stands to recover about half that amount from the sale of recyclable materials.
