COLLEGE FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : USC : Second-Half Numbers Support Perry
Los Angeles has another quarterback controversy: Should Reggie Perry or freshman Rob Johnson be USC’s starter?
Even though Perry was relieved by Johnson during the second half of the last two games, Perry’s second-half passing statistics are impressive.
In the last two quarters over the last four games, Perry has completed 42 of 65 passes for 511 yards with no interceptions. Johnson has completed nine of 16 passes for 111 yards with one touchdown with no interceptions in two second-half appearances.
Johnson has become the crowd favorite, but no decision yet on who will start against Arizona Saturday.
The starting time for the game at Tucson has been changed from 7 p.m. to 3:30 PST to accommodate cable television. Also, the starting time of the game against UCLA game Nov. 23 at the Coliseum has been changed from 12:30 to 3 p.m. so that it can be televised by Prime Ticket. ABC will televise Cal-Stanford that day instead of UCLA-USC.
