HBO Collects 102 ACE Awards Nominations

Home Box Office dominated nominations for the cable-TV industry’s ACE Awards Tuesday, collecting 102 of the 374 citations, including 13 for its series “Dream On,” 11 for its series “Tales From the Crypt” and 11 for its movie “The Josephine Baker Story.”

Thirty-four other cable networks received nominations. Showtime was runner-up to HBO with 30, followed by Arts & Entertainment with 25, the Disney Channel with 24, CNN and ESPN with 22 apiece, TNT with 21 and Lifetime Television with 20.

Winners of the 13th annual ACE Awards, honoring cable’s top programs, performers and craftsmen, will be announced Jan. 12 in ceremonies that TNT will televise from the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood. The awards cover the period from Sept. 1, 1990 to Aug. 31, 1991.
