Oil slick: Huntington Beach, led by Jeff Deffenbaugh, has rolled to a 7-0 record in the Nike Sunset Surfing League standings. Deffenbaugh, a senior, has recorded the highest-scoring wave in five of the Oilers’ victories, with a season-best score of 8.5 out of 10. Marina is in second place at 4-2.

The league finishes its season Dec. 7, and its all-star championships are scheduled for Dec. 13 at the Huntington Beach Pier.
