Vujic CSUN’s Top Cross-Country Hope
The end of the cross-country season appears near for the Cal State Northridge men’s and women’s teams, but it might last a little longer for Sasha Vujic.
Both Northridge squads must finish among the top two teams today in the NCAA Division I District 8 meet at Fresno’s Woodward Park to automatically qualify for the Division I championships in Tucson on Nov. 25.
In addition, the three fastest individuals who are not on those two qualifying teams will advance to the national meet.
On Monday, an additional six women’s teams from across the country and an additional three men’s teams will be awarded at-large berths in the NCAA meet.
Considering the competition--the men will run against five top-20 teams, the women against four in the top 25--neither Northridge team is likely to advance.
Vujic, a junior who won the Cal Poly Pomona invitational three weeks ago, has an outside chance of qualifying for the Division I men’s championships.
