Boy, 13, Found Chained, Starving in Trailer, Dies

Associated Press

A 13-year-old boy found chained and starving in his family’s trailer two weeks ago died Saturday, officials said.

Stephen Hill had been in a coma since his mother called authorities when the boy had a heart attack.

His parents had kept him on a plastic chain, out of reach of food, for at least six months to discipline him, police said. When he was found, the bruised, 55-pound boy also had a blood infection caused by malnutrition, doctors said.

His parents remained jailed Saturday on charges of injury to a child. The father also was charged with aggravated kidnaping.
