An Ontario man was arrested Sunday for drunk driving after his truck plowed into a Pomona home, critically injuring three children who were pinned beneath the vehicle, police said.

Damont Tilman, 5, Sheika Lee, 7, and Jerome Jackson, 11, were in a rear bedroom in the home in the 2100 block of Crystal Place about 2 a.m. when a Dodge Ramcharger smashed into the house and pinned the children under the truck, said Pomona Police Lt. Larry Todd.

Police and paramedics freed the children and took them to Pomona Valley Hospital, Todd said, adding that one child suffered a fractured skull and internal injuries.

The driver, Merle William Craven, 27, ran from the scene but was found shortly afterward hiding in an apartment complex about half a mile away, Todd said.

Craven was booked on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and drunk driving, Todd said. The suspect was being held without bond in the Men’s Central Jail.
