West Coast Bancorp: The Orange-based parent company of Sunwest Bank and Heritage Thrift & Loan in Orange County and Sacramento First National Bank in Sacramento County said it lost $1.1 million, or 12 cents per share, for the third quarter, an improvement over a loss of $904,000, or 10 cents per share, for the like quarter last year. The nine-month net loss totaled $683,000, or 7 cents per share, compared to a loss of $197,000, or 2 cents per share, for the comparable 1990 period. Total assets declined 5%, to $449.4 million from $474.2 million.
