Long Beach Routs Czech Team, 96-51
Frankie Edwards scored 20 points and Byron Russell had 19 points and 13 rebounds as Cal State Long Beach routed Trencin of Czechoslovakia, 96-51, in an exhibition game Monday night at Long Beach.
Chris Tower contributed 15 points, Lucious Harris 14 and Tony McGee 11 for the 49ers.
Trencin’s Vlastmil Havlik led all scorers with 22 points.
The 49ers quickly grabbed a 20-8 lead, then ran off 15 unanswered points to make it 35-8 halfway through the first half.
