No Time for Play: The judge presiding over the securities fraud trial of Charles H. Keating Jr. wasn’t going to let an earthquake--especially a pretend one--interrupt closing arguments last Thursday.

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Lance A. Ito got the courtroom exempted from participating in an earthquake drill that emptied the 19-story Los Angeles County Criminal Courts building.

While everyone else was forced to take up to two hours out of his or her day to evacuate the courthouse, the Keating trial continued.
