Slurs Ignite Brawl at Lancaster Jail
A brawl provoked by racial insults broke out Tuesday between 10 black and 30 Latino inmates in the maximum-security barracks of a Lancaster jail, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said.
The inmates at the Mira Loma Custody Facility began fighting at 2:15 p.m. with their hands, feet and broomsticks, Deputy Hal Grant said.
The fight ended five minutes later when deputies arrived, Grant said. One inmate was treated at Lancaster Community Hospital for a minor injury and returned to the jail, Grant said.
