SPORTS ON WEEKEND TV : A Full Lineup of Football

This sports television weekend offers renewals of several college football rivalries, a heavyweight championship fight not on pay-per-view and a unique golf tournament featuring many of the game’s top players.

College Football: Prime Ticket will carry the UCLA-USC game from the Coliseum at 3 p.m., followed by Arizona-Arizona State at 6:30 p.m. ABC will air Cal vs. Stanford at 12:30 on Channels 7, 3, 10 and 42. The same stations will show Ohio State at Michigan at 9 a.m.

Pro Football: Sunday will be a rarity for local football fans, with five games scheduled to air. At 10 a.m., the Raiders will meet the Cincinnati Bengals on Channels 4, 36 and 39, and the Dallas Cowboys will play the Washington Redskins on Channels 2 and 8. At 1 p.m., Channel 4 will show the Miami Dolphins-Chicago Bears matchup, while Channels 36 and 39 will have the San Diego Chargers at the New York Jets. ESPN’s 5 p.m. game will match the Atlanta Falcons and the New Orleans Saints.

Boxing: Heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield will make his second title defense when he fights Bert Cooper tonight. HBO’s coverage begins at 7:10 p.m.

Golf: The Shark Shootout, a tournament that features several of golf’s top players competing in several formats, will air at 2:30 p.m. today on Channels 2 and 8, and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. on Channel 2 and 1:30 p.m. on Channel 8.
