Alatorre Denies RTD Contract Vote
Southern California Rapid Transit District Director Richard Alatorre said Friday he did not vote to extend the RTD’s Blue Line safety contract with the Sheriff’s Department, as reported in The Times.
Alatorre was walking out as votes were cast and said “yes” when his name was called. The board secretary later announced six “yes” votes, not including Alatorre, but board President Marvin Holen said he counted seven, apparently including him.
Later, however, Alatorre made clear he did not intend to vote in favor of the measure. He is now officially listed as being absent when the vote was taken. The measure was approved 6 to 3 by the 11-member RTD board.
