Washington Gains Ground on Miami
Washington gained ground on No. 1 Miami but is still ranked No. 2.
The Huskies trail the Hurricanes by 20 points in the Associated Press poll, 1,476 1/2 to 1,456 1/2, and by only three points in the USA Today/CNN poll, 1,442 to 1,439.
Miami received 37 1/2 first-place votes in the AP writers’ and broadcasters’ poll and 32 in the USA Today/CNN coaches’ poll. Washington got 22 1/2 and 27, respectively.
Last week, Miami had 46 first-place votes and 1,486 points in the AP poll, and 44 and 1,459 in the coaches’ poll. Washington had 14 first-place votes and 1,446 points in one poll and 15 and 1,426 in the other.
