UCLA’s season-opening 87-72 victory over Indiana lifted the Bruins to fourth in this week’s Associated Press men’s basketball poll, their highest ranking in the poll since the 1982-83 season, when they were No. 1 for two weeks at midseason.

Duke, which opened its season Monday night against East Carolina, remained No. 1, getting all but three of 64 first-place votes.

Arkansas is No. 2 and Arizona No. 3. Rounding out the top 10 are Ohio State, North Carolina, Seton Hall, St. John’s, Louisiana State and Indiana, which fell from second after losing to UCLA at Springfield, Mass.
