Saying Farewell: Rock stars, solemn-faced behind dark glasses, paid tribute in London Wednesday to Freddie Mercury, the lead singer of Queen, before he was cremated in a ceremony led by white-robed priests of the Zoroastrian faith. A single red rose rested atop Mercury’s coffin, which was driven to the crematory in an old black Rolls-Royce with flowers on the roof. Flowers sent from all over the world covered a quarter of an acre and were distributed to AIDS patients. Mercury, 45, died Sunday of AIDS.
