NBA : Ewing Rallies Knicks, 99-97
Patrick Ewing scored 13 of his 23 points in the fourth quarter, and the New York Knicks erased a 17-point deficit to beat the Charlotte Hornets, 99-97, Monday night for their sixth consecutive victory.
Ewing, who made only five of 14 shots through the first three quarters, connected on three baskets in succession to give the Knicks a 97-95 lead in the final minute.
After Charlotte’s Kendall Gill was called for an offensive foul, rookie Greg Anthony hit one of two free throws for the Knicks.
Rookie Larry Johnson had 20 points and 15 rebounds for the Hornets, who lost their fifthconsecutive game and slipped to a 4-14 record for the worst start in their four-year history.
