Huskies to Train at Rams Park for Rose Bowl
There will be football at Rams Park in late December after all.
Although the non-playoff-bound Rams won’t need their Anaheim practice facility after the Dec. 22 season finale against the Seattle Seahawks, the University of Washington will train there for the Rose Bowl, school officials said Monday.
This will be the third consecutive year the Huskies will drill in Orange County for a bowl game. They practiced at Golden West College for the 1989 Freedom Bowl and last winter for the Rose Bowl.
“Coach (Don) James really liked the (Rams Park) facility,” said Chip Lydum, assistant to Athletic Director Barbara Hedges, noting that it is close to the team’s hotel, the Anaheim Marriott.
This will be the sixth consecutive year at least one Rose Bowl team has trained in Orange County.
Michigan, the Big Ten’s Rose Bowl representative, will be headquartered at the Doubletree Hotel in Pasadena.
