Vista
The body of a 35-year-old man who had been shot in the head was found lying along a road in Vista.
Pedro Cortez, believed to be a San Diego resident, was identified through fingerprints, medical examiner investigator Bill Leard said.
A woman discovered Cortez’s body about 9 p.m. Thursday while driving in the 2100 block of Vista Grande Road, San Diego Sheriff’s Lt. John Tenwolde said.
A man who lives nearby told sheriff’s deputies that, at 8:30 p.m., he heard a car stop in the area where the body was found, then speed away about 20 seconds later, Tenwolde said.
