Torrents of Spring (Showtime Sunday at 2 p.m.) In Jerzy Skolimowski’s exquisite 1989 adaptation of Turgenev’s 1872 novel, which is as romantic as its title, Timothy Hutton plays a weakling Russian nobleman bewitched by Nastassja Kinski’s ruthless seductress. A treat for lovers of full-blown 19th-Century romanticism.

Comic Book Confidential (Bravo Sunday night at 10:30) Ron Mann’s 1988 film is the first documentary feature on the subject and offers some truly memorable images. Anyone who is interested in the comics should plan to see it, but anyone who knows much about them most likely will be disappointed by its lack of depth.

Kill Me Again (Cinemax Tuesday at 4:25 a.m.) This low budget but classy film noir pastiche has an archetypal plot: a love-on-the-run story about a femme fatale (Joanne Whalley-Kilmer) and a private eye (Val Kilmer), pursued by both cops and crooks.

Round Midnight (Bravo Tuesday at 5 p.m., again at 10:30 p.m.). Bertrand Tavenier’s handsome 1986 film, loosely based on the Paris days of pianist Bud Powell, is one of the few movies that reveal the world of jazz from the inside, suggesting why musicians are driven to make music.
