Dan Quayle
Your editorial page mistakenly spilled over to the front page in your Column One article on Vice President Dan Quayle (Dec. 2). In an effort to apologize for some of his buffoon-like statements, you say “even though many of the accusations against Quayle are untrue or taken out of context. . . .” What accusations are untrue? Which ones are taken out of context?
You continue your editorial saying “each attack boosts his stock with Republican conservatives and business interests.” That’s not true--to have the vice president attacked for making ignorant statements and for reading carefully prepared statements zombie-like does nothing to endear him to Republican conservatives or business interests.
It’s obvious to me and many Americans that this is just another one of those “Quayle still gaining acceptance” pieces that The Times runs from time to time. I would appreciate it if you would keep your editorials on the editorial page.
