The City Council last week voted unanimously to hire Convention Enterprises Unlimited of San Juan Capistrano to help raise funds for the 1992 Heritage Festival.

“They will be going out to businesses and corporate sponsors and working with them to become sponsors of the events,” said Linda Evans, the city’s community services supervisor.

Convention Enterprises will be paid on commission, Evans said. The contract stipulates that the firm will be paid 15% of the first $30,000 in cash donations, 20% for cash donations from $30,000 to $50,000, and 25% for cash donations of more than $50,000.

This year for the first time, the city and the San Juan Capistrano Fiesta Assn.--joint organizers of the Swallows’ Day Parade--have joined forces to hire a fund-raiser.

The Heritage Festival, which includes the parade, a 10-kilometer race and many other events, usually costs about $150,000 to produce, of which $104,500 will come from the city, Evans said.
