William R. Cullen has been named chief executive of Los Angeles-based California News Channel, a statewide cable TV news network proposed by Cox Cable Communications. Cullen is chairman of the California Cable TV Assn. and had been senior vice president for the southwest division of United Artists Cable Corp., which was recently sold to Tele-Communications Inc.
Cullen will be in charge of launching the new channel, which has yet to receive firm commitments from California cable operators.
