ABC Confirms Register’s Lower Circulation: The Audit Bureau of Circulations, ending a lengthy audit of the Orange County Register, reported that the Register’s average daily circulation was 354,843 for the six-month period ended last March 31. The independent ABC also reported in its recently released audit that the Register’s average Sunday circulation was 407,759. Both figures coincide with revised numbers that the Register announced in late October. Before that time, however, the Santa Ana newspaper had been promoting itself in trade journals as the nation’s fastest growing newspaper with a reported increase in average circulation to 372,750 daily and 429,146 Sunday by the end of last March.
