CONEJO VALLEY : Lockheed Executive Leads School Board

William H. Henry Jr., a Lockheed Corp. executive, was elected president of the Conejo Valley Unified School District board Tuesday.

A board member since 1985, Henry replaces Richard Newman as president. Henry earned a doctorate of education from Rutgers University and taught personnel administration at the University of Maryland in the 1960s. Since 1981, he has worked for Lockheed, where he is director of training and development.

He suggests that in tough financial times, the school board should seek help from the community as a whole and from the city.

“We have a tight budget this year, and it will be even tighter in the coming year,” said Henry, 64. “My goal is to focus on the community-at-large support. I’m not quite sure of the particulars, but if the City Council represents the greater community, they should join with us.”

The board vice president is Dorothy Beaubien, and Newman was elected clerk.
