An Orange man is scheduled to be arraigned today in connection with the shooting death last month of a self-employed mason.

Kenneth Lewis Webb, 35, was arrested on suspicion of murder Friday afternoon in his attorney’s office in Santa Ana, said Orange Police Department spokesman Sgt. Jim Hudson. Webb decided to turn himself in after he learned police were seeking him in connection with the slaying of Bruce Gordon Hanson Jr., said Webb’s lawyer, Michael Cassidy. Webb remained in Orange County Jail in Santa Ana on Tuesday on $250,000 bail.

Hanson, 33, was shot once in the head shortly before 9 p.m. on Nov. 24. Police said Hanson’s girlfriend, who was inside the house they shared at 350 S. Grand St., and neighbors heard “a loud bang” coming from the attached garage. The girlfriend, whose identity was not released, found Hanson on the garage floor, police said.

Police said they thought the shooting was sparked by a dispute over a methamphetamine transaction. Hanson was confronted in his garage by two men and shot, Hudson said.

A second man, Eric Joseph Lanz, 32, of Costa Mesa, was arrested at a Tustin apartment complex on Nov. 26 in connection with the murder. Police are not seeking any other suspects, Hudson said.

Webb will be arraigned in Municipal Court in Santa Ana.
