Share

The Laguna Beach Unified School District announced a vacancy on the Board of Education after the resignation Tuesday of member Kathy Jones.

Jones, who became vice chancellor at UC Irvine within the past year, resigned her school district position because of the difficulty of balancing the demands of both jobs, according to a letter she submitted to Board of Education members. Jones had been on the school board for four years.

On Wednesday, Supt. Paul M. Possemato said Jones’ decision came as “a blow to all of the board members.”
