Sunny skies and warmer temperatures will brighten up San Diego this weekend, and holiday shoppers can take advantage of the outdoor malls all weekend, said Wilbur Shigehara, chief forecaster for the National Weather Service in San Diego.

“We got a pretty nice weekend coming up. It’s really going to be great,” Shigehara said.

A high-pressure system over California’s coastline will bring the pleasant weather, the weather service said.

The local coastal area, including downtown, can expect high temperatures between 68 and 75 degrees all weekend, with low temperatures near 47 degrees, Shigehara said.

At the beaches, highs this weekend will be 65 degrees; the water temperature will be 58.

The inland area can expect mild temperatures throughout the weekend, Shigehara said. The high temperatures in the inland area will be between 70 and 77 degrees, and at night the lows will be near 40 degrees, bringing some frost to the area, Shigehara said.

The mountains will have high temperatures in the mid 50s with lows in the 30s, Shigehara said.

Mild temperatures are expected in the desert; Borrego Springs will have a high of 68 degrees and a low of 49 degrees.

A storm near the Hawaiian Islands may send some cirrus clouds streaming into San Diego on Sunday, but forecasters don’t think it will darken skies or cause rain.
